EMDR Therapy
JULIE CHAHAL, LPC, SEP
EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ +
Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner
I’ve trained extensively in EMDR, neuroscience, and subconscious pattern work.
Because I understand what is happening underneath the surface, I take EMDR beyond simply processing a memory. We work with the story, emotions, nervous system, and body so we can find the places where the experience is still stuck.
You may understand exactly why you react the way you do.
But understanding it hasn’t changed it.
“I am really good at what I do”
CLIENTS COME TO ME FOR:
A body on high alert
Feeling stuck in patterns
Replaying conversations
Preparing for things that don’t happen
Difficulty letting things go
When the past influences today
Understand the problem, can’t change
Talk therapy that helped but didn’t fix it
“You can analyze a pattern perfectly and still be run by it.”
WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM BUT STILL CAN’T CHANGE IT
Talking can help you make sense of what happened. But your brain, body, and nervous system may still be reacting as if the experience is unfinished.
That’s why you can know you’re safe and still feel on edge.
Know the conversation is over and still replay it for hours.
Know the relationship is different and still react the same way.
Unresolved experiences do not have to keep organizing your life forever.
WHAT EMDR THERAPY WITH ME IS LIKE
You bring me the problem.
Then I help us get underneath it.
We let the subconscious show us the series of experiences were the pattern was learned and what your system is holding onto.
I know where to guide the process and how to identify the pain points and “sticky” places where your brain and nervous system are still holding on.
From there, we work to resolve the experience on multiple levels:
The story
The emotions
The nervous system
The body
My extensive training in subconscious work helps me make EMDR more targeted so we can get to what is driving the pattern without spending session after session circling around it.
I’m collaborative, and I always work at your pace.
But I’m also directive.
My job is to help us find where the problem is actually living and guide the work from there.
Therapy Modalities I Use in Session
-
EMDR helps your brain process experiences that never fully resolved.
The goal isn’t to erase what happened.
It’s to help your brain recognize that it is over so the past stops creating the same emotional and physical response in the present.
-
I incorporate Somatic Experiencing® when the body is still holding tension, bracing, shutdown, or another protective response.
We work with what your nervous system learned to do and help it recognize that it has more options now.
-
Sometimes the problem you see today started much earlier.
We identify the deeper beliefs, memories, and protective patterns underneath your current reaction so we can work with the source rather than only managing the symptom.
My EMDR Therapy Has Results
We work together so the problem stops taking up so much space.
AFTER WORKING TOGETHER, CLIENTS REPORT:
Focus on what actually matters
Feeling like themselves
At peace in the present
More connection in relationships
More trust in yourself
Less emotional charge around the past
Feeling less controlled by patterns
What happened can still be part of your story without continuing to run your life.
About Me
Hi, I’m Julie.
I know this work from the inside too.
I’ve done my own work around staying grounded during conflict, trusting myself more deeply, and understanding the ways my brain and nervous system learned to protect me.
That’s part of why I don’t believe symptoms or emotional patterns are random.
I want to understand what they learned to do for you, where they came from, and what needs to shift so they no longer have to work so hard.
My work combines EMDR, Somatic Experiencing®, neuroscience, subconscious pattern work, and more than 15,000 clinical hours to help people create lasting change beneath the surface.
I continue deepening my understanding of the brain, nervous system, and change process every year.
I also believe therapists need to keep doing their own work.
We can only take clients as far as we’ve been willing to go ourselves.
Outside of therapy, I live in Fort Worth with my husband and our lab mix, Charlie.
I’m an outside girlie. I garden, walk along the river every day, boat, swim, and read a lot of biographies—especially about founders.
