About Me

👋🏼 I’m Julie Chahal, LPC, SEP.

I’m a therapist + Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner with more than 15,000 clinical hours helping driven people understand and change the patterns underneath pressure, performance, anxiety, and self-doubt.

A lot of my clients already understand themselves really well.

They know the pattern. They know where it came from. They’ve probably talked about it before.

My work is about helping you actually resolve what is underneath it.

My Specialities

My Therapy Is Collaborative + Directive

I always work at your pace.

But I’m also not a therapist who is going to sit back and wait for you to figure everything out on your own.

You bring me the problem.

Then I help guide us toward what is underneath it.

Sometimes we work through the mind. Sometimes we work directly through the body and nervous system. Often, we trace a current pattern back to the place where it first made sense and work to resolve it there.

I don’t believe symptoms are random.

I’m interested in understanding what the pattern has been trying to accomplish, what it has been protecting, and why your system still believes you need it.

My work combines Somatic Experiencing®, EMDR, neuroscience, subconscious pattern work, and years of clinical experience to create change beneath the surface.

I don’t want to give you one more strategy for managing everything. You’re probably already good at that.

I Know This Work From The Inside Too

Building my own business has shown me where money felt tied to safety.

When revenue changed, I could feel it in my sleep, my body, and my sense of control.

I’ve had to look at where I tied identity to success, where I shaped myself around what other people needed, and where achievement became a way of creating safety.

I’ve also done my own somatic work around chronic tension, staying grounded during conflict, and learning to trust myself more deeply.

Even my desire to fix things and help people change became something I had to look at more closely.

I wanted that part of my work to come from purpose, not pressure.

That’s why I believe so strongly that therapists need to keep doing their own work.

We can only take clients as far as we’ve been willing to go ourselves.

And the credential I’m most proud of is the amount of work I’ve done on me.

My Background

I’ve been practicing since 2013 and have more than 15,000 clinical hours.

Somatic Experiencing® has been a major focus of my clinical work. I completed three years of advanced training, including extensive consultation and supervised practice, and studied under Peter Levine, the founder of Somatic Experiencing®.

I’ve also completed extensive EMDR training, clinical hours, and consultation, along with advanced professional training in neuroscience, subconscious patterning, and how the brain, body, and nervous system shape behavior and change.

My approach is built around helping people get underneath patterns rather than simply becoming better at coping with them.

On A Personal Note

I live in Fort Worth with my husband and our lab mix, Charlie.

I’m an outside girlie.

I garden, walk along the river every day, boat, swim, and spend as much time outside as I can.

I also read a lot of biographies, especially biographies about founders.

Entrepreneurship is familiar territory for me. My siblings, parents, and grandparents are entrepreneurs, and building my own business has become part of my own personal work around success, safety, identity, and trust.
